Data collected from over 25,000 phone repairs across the UK in the last three months has shown that James’ and Sarah’s are among the most likely people to damage their handsets. The data also exposes city slickers aren’t so slick when it comes to their phones, with Canary Wharf, Chelsea and Hammersmith being in the top three clumsiest locations nationwide.

After Sarah, the women most likely to be seen picking up the pieces are Emma, Laura and Charlotte. Don’t be surprised if you see David, Paul and Mark donning a broken screen either as they come close behind those named James. Matin’s and Joe’s can sleep soundly knowing they won’t be needing a repair any time soon, as they are the least likely to break their devices.

If you’re wondering about whether the phone model plays a role, the data suggests that those pesky iPhones take the top 9 places for most breakable phones, followed closely by the slippery Samsung.

Julian Shovlin, the founder of iSmash, added: “We carried out the research to see if there was any correlation that might exist between names and phone breakages, with the results suggesting that certain names have less luck than others. Damaging your phone is always very inconvenient and if your name is on the list, I would suggest buying a case to help save you from future breakages. Thankfully, if you do break your device, there are trusted stores out there that can get your device repaired swiftly and safely, leaving you with minimal downtime, no matter how clumsy you are.”

The study follows recent figures released by iSmash which ranked the clumsiest regions in the UK, collated from 160,000 online searches, where the North was officially coined the most precarious place to own a phone, with breakages more likely. iSmash is also offering £10 off repairs for anyone called James or Anna until the end of November 2018 when booked online at www.ismash.com.
